I love my Daddy...
So, so much.
One thing that I recognized at a young age was that my father had character, and I don't say that about most men.
Each day that I get older I appreciate him more and become even more proud of him.
*sniffle* ba ha ;)
I'm very serious about what I said though.
One of my favorite memories with Daddy was when I was a little girl and we were still living in Orlando while Daddy did his residency. I was probably 3 or 4 at the time. After bathtime Daddy would do something called the "Airplane" where he would roll me up tightly in my towel, I would put my hands out like I was flying, and he would pick me up ("Airplane Up!!!") and ZOOM me all over the house.
We have a cute home video of it- and I am giggling NON-STOP.
I'm going to make our home videos digital, so hopefully I can upload a clip sometime ;)
Above all things, my Daddy taught me to love Christ and His precious Word - through example
I can still picture his rugged, black Bible with papers tucked in it of the Scriptures He was memorizing.
I can still see Daddy's face as he would bow his head as we would take communion. I would sneak peaks. His very demeanor was worshipful.
There are a few pages in the back of my prayer journals where I write down text's from Daddy.
Did I mention I love my Daddy?

"This is the very first text message I have ever sent anyone. I LOVE YOU, AND I'M PROUD OF YOU!
TRUST GOD Numbers 23:19"
["God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?]

"HEY Kate, hope you are doing well. I'm in the deerstand, been praying for you while I'm waiting for that big buck."

"This is our enemy trying to steal your peace. You know God will equip you to do what He has called you to do."

"Satan would not be going after you if you weren't a serious spiritual combatant of concern to him. He would love to neutralize you!"

"Happy Birthday Sweetheart! 23 yrs ago you slept your first night's sleep on my chest.
Now you're in it forever! Dad"
[Yes, I sobbed then. And am sobbing now.]
Sheesh, and we'd picked an emotional enough song, no wonder:
"Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman
She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I'm sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders
It's been a long day
And there's still work to do
She's pulling at me
Saying "Dad, I need you
There's a ball at the castle
And I've been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone
Well, she came home today with a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh, please, Daddy, please?"
So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't want to miss even one song
'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone..."
Ha, people told me at the reception and afterward that there was not ONE dry female eye there!
I'll end with Daddy's life verse- cause I don't know how much more snifflin' I can take, ha ha:
"He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly
and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God."
Micah 6:8
Blessings- Katie ;)

Oh geez... speaking of sobbing. My Daddy isn't a crier. I've seen him cry 3 times literally. So for our Father-Daughter dance when he held me in his arms and danced with me and cried- I lost it. |
